Timothy Shin is a Partner at Barun Law LLC (www.barunlaw.com), where he leads the firm’s Fintech, Digital Assets and Venture Capital practice. As complement to his legal practice, Timothy is a Venture Partner at SparkLabs Korea Accelerator (www.sparklabsgroup.com). He also serves as an advisor to a number of promising start-ups. Prior to Barun Law LLC, Timothy was a Partner at Dentons Lee where he co-chaired the firm’s Blockchain and Digital Assets practice. Before that, Timothy was a Managing Director at GreensLedge Capital Markets LLC, where he managed and advised Korean financial institutions (including Korea Post, MMAA, Korea Teachers’ Pension, SEMA, among others) in the structuring and private placement of US-based structured credit and alternative investment funds. Prior to GreensLedge, Timothy was an Executive Director at EIG Global Energy Partners LLC where he led the funding and establishment of one of Korea’s largest energy-focused private equity funds anchored by the National Pension Fund. Before that, he was a Senior Corporate Counsel at POSCO (one of the largest steel producers in the world) and a Foreign Associate at Yulchon LLC where he focused on banking and finance, international capital markets, and M&A transactions.
Having served over fifteen years in a wide range of sectors, Timothy possesses deep industry knowledge and insight derived from first-hand experiences in diverse roles and responsibilities.
Outside of work, Timothy serves on the board of My Kids’ World, a non-profit organization supporting at-risk children and orphans in Cambodia and Myanmar. Timothy received his J.D. from Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Southern California. Timothy is admitted to practice in California.
